Salicylic Skin Peels - The Lowdown

I've been a little quiet because I've been recovering from a chemical skin peel. I've suffered with acne since my early teens and I've tried literally every product on the market. I also try and have facials/treatments every other month or so, but as the girl at clinic informed me, that won't actually do anything for the deep rooted issues, just deal with the top layer of skin.

I went to the Skinhealth Spa in Nantwich for my Salicylic Chemical Peel, I have to say that the treatment itself was a lot shorter than I'd expected. I didn't really do my homework and assumed my skin would be 'peeled' there and then, and be red and shiny for 2-3 days afterwards. Yikes - how wrong was I! There was no peeling on the actual day, it started 2 days later- Monday morning!! And it got worse and worse (my boyfriend kindly referred to it as my 'skin beard') and to be honest, he wasn't far off. Even Samantha from SATC seemed to get off more lightly than me!

I'm happy to say now though that I'm pretty much back to normal, my skin responded exactly as I was told it would. The aftercare is actually more painful than the procedure, it's not pleasant (feels hot and stings) but it's quite short lived. I had to use Dermaquest Skin Therapy Re-Surfacing Cleanser every night for 3 weeks beforehand, and I've been using it every night since. Already my skin feels smoother and the tone is more even.

I've got two more treatments to have to get rid of the blemishes, and this time I'll be a bit more prepared and book Monday off!
